something that continues to shock me is how many of my peers do not consider the cross-disciplinary value of games outside of ttrpgs
More seriously, TTRPG designers should be stealing from board games, including entire rule sets
From PBTA going from the cool new kid on the block to the old indie tradition in all these years one fact remains the same: nobody reads their damn rules properly.

So much talk about interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and cross disciplinary research. But nothing about my specialism: undisciplinary thought.

3 Amazon software engineers advocated that the city of Seattle pause data center buildouts leading to a unanimous vote for a 1-year moratorium on new data centers in the area.

Amazon initiated disciplinary action and now the workers are suing for retaliation.

Did they cross the line or did Amazon?

one of the reasons to do cross-disciplinary stuff is because it's quite common for someone to be looking at a problem and then realize that another field has been looking at for for fifty years.

Narrative designers have known this for years and frequently use live theater conceits, especially with environmental storytelling and cross-disciplinary collaboration with other facets of design. Have you seen Sleep No More? It's basically a game.
I hadn't heard someone make this gaming/theater connection before

College is not just a content that you understand a percentage of for a grade, it’s a cross disciplinary curriculum, and approach, and negotiation with autonomy that undergrads all attempt to undergo simultaneously.

Fun thing about being a cartoonist/comic person is that I have both writer and illustrator colleagues. Those circles don’t overlap as much as I’d hope, and it’s making me despair at there being any cross-disciplinary solidarity on LLM image or text generators.

its probable that “operator” fetishization is just a symptom of a generalized, cross-disciplinary cultural lionization of an elite figure commanding access to specialized tools and skills (see the “10x engineer” for example)

This is the shape of the crisis: to prevent cataclysmic climate breakdown, we have to RADICALLY cut carbon pollution at a completely unprecedented rate. All prior climate policy has failed.

Any university without a massive, cross-disciplinary program to inform this task is part of the problem.

You can't "return to work" during a strike, you cross a picket line. It's not for individual union members to decide it is over.

You aren't "threatened" for that, you are subject to disciplinary action because members are expected to stand in solidarity.

Disciplinary actions are not 'crimes'.
It really sucks for Sag-aftra since they don't care about protecting voice actors, but threatening them for returning to work, so idk why, but they deserve to be punished for their crimes against the VAs.

"Rocket launches already contribute to climate change and ozone depletion. Scaling them up to deploy a million aircraft-sized satellites would push upper-atmosphere heating and ozone loss far beyond previous estimates, with the steady burn-up of dead satellites compounding the impacts." 🧪🛰️🚀
A new space race could turn our atmosphere into a ‘crematorium for satellites’
Planned ‘megaconstellations’ of satellites could cause unforeseen harm to the ozone layer and climate systems. Global regulation is needed before it’s too late.
