Foreign money funding Reform UK.

Another 7m from two overseas British crypto billionaires - £4m from Hong Kong-based billionaire, £3m from Thailand.

Tax exiles shaping UK politics. Modern equivalent of representation without taxation. What have they been promised?

Must ban political donations.

So glad to see George Cottrell being named in parliament yesterday. He was Farage’s head of fundraising when he convicted of an offence related to money laundering & is still close to & funding Farage. Crypto is an urgent democratic threat to the UK
I am deeply suspicious of parties which court cryptocurrency donations, given the potential for money laundering, by organised criminal gangs and malign foreign governments.

Yesterday in Parliament, I rang the alarm bell at Farage's continuing closeness to wire fraud convict George Cottrell.

Another clear and knowable downstream consequence of letting scammers get rich off crypto was that that money would boomerang back into politics in ways that were highly likely to try to skirt around fundraising laws and distort policy incentives.

All about the framing. Same people who were losing their minds about Starmer's *declared* small donations, screeching "WHAT INFLUENCE WAS LABOUR PEER BUYING IN EXCHANGE FOR A SUIT AND SOME EYEGLASSES???", now present Farage accepting millions of dodgy foreign crypto like some sort of achievement.

Many of your Democratic colleagues just voted to allow him to do criminal fraud in the name of advancing crypto so is anyone actually going to stop this or is it just a good fundraising opportunity for you guys?
Trump bombing Iran was illegal and unjustified.

I ran for Congress to make sure our leaders consider the true costs of war.

And I will be in the Senate, standing on my titanium legs, demanding answers from Trump.

My statement:

The crypto industry gave Trump millions of dollars through campaign donations, super PACs, inauguration fundraising, & more.

Now, Trump wants to create a crypto “strategic reserve." (1/2)

@davidhogg.bsky.social: "In conversations about congressional races... the three most common questions I hear... is what is AIPAC doing, what is crypto doing and what was our last quarter fundraising... people like Hakeem Jeffries are terrified to talk about that... because they have tons of money."

I think another question is what happens to the crypto/fundraising infrastructure -- and how much Stella runs.
When Assange was pulled out of the Ecuadorean Embassy and put in a UK jail in 2019, one enormous question was whether WikiLeaks could continue to exist without him. Now the big question will be whether Assange can exist as a free person without running/relaunching WikiLeaks.

“The donations underscore how Reform remains extremely.. reliant on a handful of billionaire donors who are helping it significantly outstrip the fundraising efforts of Labour and [Tories]”

Farage owes his ‘success’ to his sponsors. Our democracy is being bought.

Their last $100m fundraising round was led by Bain Capital. Brock Pierce's crypto VC firm was an early investor. This is not a virtuous bunch.
Same graph, but with the time series expanded to three years.

Honestly, it's a minor miracle that a social media company not backed by oligarchs or the state, with no attempt at establishing a revenue stream, and with multiple established competitors, had so much growth in such short time

If he sponsors a crypto-friendly bill all bets are off, but if I was him I would be lying to their faces just to see how much money I can get. Important to remember that this was explicitly a fundraising call for crypto guys.

It’s inevitable that a new platform would attract the same romance, crypto, charity/fundraising, 419 scammers etc.. It’s fascinating, the lengths people will go to exploit one another. A microcosm of malfeasances seething away under the microscope, unaware they’re being studied.

Cottrell, a convicted fraudster and longtime ally of F£r£ge, is under HMRC investigation over tax residency, business affairs, and crypto dealings via Tether.bet and GT Holding. Could the probe also reach F£r£ge’s fundraising, political financing, and links to Cottrell’s activities?

Trump now dreams of erecting the “Arc de Trump” to celebrate 250 years of America. During a fundraising dinner, in front of 130 guests from Big Tech and the crypto world, he displayed his models, like an emperor in search of kitschy glory and media distractions.

Q for my followers: my phone number is compromised, getting GOP fundraising and crypto scam texts about every 30 minutes

is there a solution on Android to filter/block messages? i.e., if it comes from an unknown number, contains a URL, mark it as spam?

i.e. filter texts the way i would emails...

“Cements” is an absolutely wild word choice here. It presents the situation as a competition win instead of corruption.
