China’s OPPO Smartphones Just Killed MIFARE Classic Security – Here’s How to Hack Hotel Keys in Seconds + Video
Introduction: MIFARE Classic is one of the world’s most widely deployed contactless smart card technologies, used in access control systems, hotel key cards, public transit passes, and campus IDs. Its proprietary CRYPTO1 cipher has been known to be broken since 2008, but practical exploitation traditionally required specialized hardware like a Proxmark3 or an Android phone with external NFC readers. Recent discoveries show that certain OPPO smartphones sold in mainland China can read MIFARE Classic cards, crack their encryption keys in seconds using only built-in NFC hardware, store the card’s data, and fully emulate the card – turning any compatible phone into a universal cloning and bypass tool.

the pm3 trace screenshots gave me instant flashbacks lmao

i probably spent more than a thousand hours looking at those by this point

but also in that case I recommend looking into Mifare Classic and the wonderful dumpster fire that is Crypto1, there's a lot of fun stuff that can be done with that

A good artist copies; a great artist steals~ (stealing Racket's with-steps macro and introducing it to my Lean DSL for generating LaTeX)

Aaaaaah we even get highlighting and warnings for unused identifiers aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Fun fact: your MFF key card may be a MIFARE Plus EV1. It acts like a MIFARE Classic, except important sectors can require AES authentication instead of CRYPTO1. This makes it currently extremely difficult to clone or emulate the card.
