One of the most unusual engines ever to operate on the west coast, the Central -> Southern Pacific used these 2-6-2T's for east bay commuter service from Alameda into Oakland and Berkeley. One survives today at CSRM after being on display for decades in a park near Lake Merritt.

🧵/end. For many years with CSRM's professional staff, I diligently plotted a full exterior re-do of the museum's "Big Four" and Dingley Spice Mill buildings. These wore inferior paint hues and signs until 1998. My plans were executed coincident to Railfair 1999 when CSRM celebrated its origins.

🧵/ One of my last efforts with CSRM was a full cosmetic re-do of ex-Sacramento Northern Railway EMC SW1 switcher No. 402. Originally Western Pacific No. 502, she is among California's earliest diesels. She was also a talisman of my Sacramento childhood. Taking her back to c.1960s State was sweet.
