Dug up two LR-44 button batteries and loaded it. Looks like the light meter, shutter and advance lever all work!

I'd agree with this. If you're not going to be making rice all that often there's no need to go mid to high end with Cuckoo or Zojirushi, and the one-button Aromas will do the trick admirably.
I've never made rice in my instant pot though because I've always had a rice cooker.
