Members of the #CabbageFamily spotted on my travels this week for #WildflowerHour. Garlic Mustard reaching its peak & so many Cuckooflowers at work complete with teeny Orange-tip eggs. Naturalised Honesty added a splash of colour & the Dame’s Violet scent was intoxicating!!! 🤍💜
Garlic Mustard, Dame’s Violet, Honesty & Cuckooflowers spotted this week in flower. With their distinctive flowers comprised of 4 free petals arranged in a cruciform shape they are all members of the cabbage family.

I checked the meadow beside my building in work for Cuckooflowers. There were only a few and they were small so I was not expecting to find my first Orange-tip Butterfly egg of the year. It's fresh because it's still white. It will turn orange with time.

These pretty Cuckooflowers have rapidly become a favourite. A good companion on a long walk, they follow you from the woods along the field ditches and back to the paths and common near home.
