The enchanting hill of Knocknarea at the end of the Cuil Iorra peninsula in County Sligo is one of the most spectacular neolithic sites in Ireland. There are seven neolithic passage-graves, including the massive Queen Maeve's cairn, thirty hut foundations, two quarries, twenty-seven caves and more than two kilometers of neolithic walls, found on the mountain. The important sites, the Glen of Knocknarea, Primrose Grange megalithic chamber and Culleenamore middens are found to the south of the mountain, while the huge passage-grave complex of Carrowmore id four kilometers to the east.
