#curation
So many ideas of "curation" where the algorithm or some sort of interpersonal in-group or hurdle to clear does it for you, are not really "curation," because they're ways to avoid actually looking at art.

[Anti-AI advocates] will do anything to avoid [developing curation skills].

indica with the moon.

wind down with more bookshelf reclamation and curation on deck.

We need gatekeeping.

I'm sorry to say but we reached that point. Platforms are becoming mere digital dumping grounds, nobody can find what they're after anymore. We need to enforce strict no slop policies and have better, more reliable human curation.

Insufficient recognition of the excellent music curation in @kirkdalebooks.bsky.social, I feel.

Do you think if we talk about curation to AI sloppers they would go crazy
November 3, 2026 at 12:36 PM
It's impressive—human beings can generate vast quantities of garbage!—and also it is a kind of universal background radiation that poisons everything and everyone not big and/or rich enough to survive it.

Curation is going to become a bespoke, luxury service that you pay extra for.

This is all especially bad timing with Steam about to pivot completely away from any curation on the front page to all-algorithm-all-the-time.
November 1, 2026 at 1:31 PM
It's art curation!
November 3, 2026 at 11:38 PM
the fact valve doesn't have some small editorial/curation team is both the most and least surprising thing in video games
November 3, 2026 at 7:26 AM
Tbh Steam has been trying to pivot completely away from any curation to all-algorithm-all-the-time since roughly September 2003. I'll admit I remain skeptical.

you don't need to "produce" to be part of fandom.

it's not just about fic & art! meta discussion, collages/pic sets, playlists, curation of canon information, reviews, community organization, and more

you can reblog/retweet ppl for reach... and you can leave a simple emoji if you're shy.

people aren't going to like this answer, but the "solution" to the flood of new games/content/apps/PRs is...

1) algorithms,
2) social trust signals,
3) human curation

there is no preventing or stopping the flood, and it's not possible to review/audit it all
To manually verify EVERY game page, and not just the ones that are suspected of being AI, you'd need to have 25 people minimum, each working 56 hours a week. And that's assuming the problem doesn't get any worse!

I dunno about the "Don't play non-RPGs" one. Maybe it's a curation thing.
November 1, 2026 at 4:27 PM
for so many people "community curation" is just "already know a guy" which I have to say is basically stupid
November 3, 2026 at 11:35 AM
This is what healthy curation looks like 😌
November 3, 2026 at 4:18 AM
let’s be real even if curation was perfect people would still be playing the same shit, it’s a scapegoat for not examining your (hypothetical your) own habits
November 3, 2026 at 4:29 PM
“ not owned by billionaires “ isn’t a design, moderation, or curation plan
October 29, 2026 at 9:55 AM
curation isn't neutral, but at least it's open-ended. commentary that isn't any more principled in its conclusions than the vibes which fuel curation is redundant at best and fatal at worst
November 4, 2026 at 4:53 AM
It’s called curation, Ronan 😅
November 2, 2026 at 1:44 PM
The curation there is whether you can afford to pay $2,000 for a new console I think
November 2, 2026 at 12:04 AM
Agree, but this would require platform owners to acknowledge their responsibility to provide effective curation tools.
November 2, 2026 at 9:11 AM
This is a very reasonable curation line!
Just because you can upload 10 terabytes of poorly optimized ai generated models doesn't mean you should upload 10 terabytes of poorly optimized ai generated models

I miss having music curation.
Discovering new music from soundtracks, way cooler than me record store workers and radio.
