Project Sigil's slow death will continue until its servers shut down in 2026, after which the only ironic reminders of its ignominious existence will be the "add on preorder" digital dice and gilded character sheets on D&DBeyond.
Sigil suffered a slow, ignoble death
After an unsteady development process, D&DBeyond’s immersive virtual tabletop will shut down in 2026.

At 55, I am loving playing D&D again; I haven't played since high school. (2nd Ed) The tools available like D&DBeyond and Roll20 make things so much easier to have fun and enjoy the story, especially cause I suck at math. Yet I can still buy the dice to hold and crochet dice bags. Satisfying.

Btw, Yes the new books for D&D are like $50 for digital on D&Dbeyond
D&D is good, it has a lot to it and you can do a lot with it...

HOWEVER
There are now a dozen or so well established TTRPG systems that fill any niche that D&D only touches on.

Rather than spending $50 on a game to homebrew, shop around a bit. You can get a lot of smaller game's PDF fot $10-$15

By popular demand, I will am also offering my EXTREMELY REAL dice-blessing powers on Discord dicebots, the D&DBeyond Roller, or any VTT dice roller, provided you purchase a fundraiser ticket. Furthermore, I GUARANTEE that these dice blessings ARE JUST AS EFFECTIVE as the ones I use on physical dice.
Do you bless the discord bot dice maiden? She's been very mean to me lately.

A crooked moon is rising, as @avantris.bsky.social' hugely anticipated folk-horror D&D book hits pre-orders:
Legends of Avantris' $4m Kickstarter DnD book is now up for pre-order
After a hugely successful crowdfunding run, the Dungeons and Dragons actual play stars bring The Crooked Moon 5e sourcebook to D&DBeyond.

Been sitting on this for a while but very excited to finally be able to announce that my first book, Dr. Dhrolin's Dictionary of Dinosaurs, is being added to the official D&DBeyond website via their partnered content program!!!!

Snakes! A swarm of venomous lovelies done for D&DBeyond and the new Monster Manual. Spots/tokens like these are really fun to design. It’s involves a bit of work to get the group into an interesting silhouette that can be applied to a variety of contexts. #dnd #monster #art

So I took the time to log into my D&DBeyond Account and I went to the Contact Us link at the bottom and I used their email form to submit feedback that stated I was considering resubscribing, but would not and would not purchase any more books as long as they are using generative AI. Let them know

If only I could cancel my D&Dbeyond sub a second time...
If you have an artisanal role playing rules set you've lovingly and carefully created, now is a GREAT time to announce that you're doing a kickstarter for it, because

FUCK
THIS
SHIT

Google actively REMOVING the helpful search results and shoving it into shit ass AI is so fucking dumb.

These 3 hidden results are 3 commonly used 5e spell resources: wikidot, roll20, and D&DBeyond.

Implying these are irrelevant and then stealing the info as your own is prime AI chud horseshit.

lotta people call TTRPGs "D&D", like Kleenex

People who follow me are smart but Tim from Accounting doesn't know there's a sick Star Wars RPG that comes in 3 distinct flavors. He sees what Target stocks

All of this will be in D&DBeyond so expect someone to roll a MLP OC for your Dark Sun campaign

Thank you all for the helpful advice, I used D&DBeyond to make my first character 🤩🥳 meet Haizin (pronounced like raisin): once a diligent farmhand, now a wandering Bard 🧌🎻 Character stats attached 🤓

I think WotC learned a lot from 4e that informs D&DBeyond.

Nope. Although many of the 40k subs are trash as well. Today it is the D&D subreddits who are very, very angry about 2024 integration into D&DBeyond. Like, very, very angry.

hey rq i think it's fucking wild that d&dbeyond of all things is asking me to confirm my birth date to avoid service disruption. leave me aloneeeeeeeee

There’s something morbidly therapeutic deleting your ex-spouse’s D&D character from your D&DBeyond Campaign matrix. It’s the little things that help you heal.

I really have trouble treating with finding the D&DBeyond thing anything but funny. You can only hand your wallet over to the wallet inspector so many times before sympathy dries up.

Relevant for the TTRPG space: so many people's experience of an RPG now is its presentation on Foundry, Roll20, or D&DBeyond - no physical rulebook, not even a PDF of the rules. If you're offline, or if you want to peruse casually, or when that platform inevitably collapses, you have *nothing*.
The devious thing is that they are going to make it increasingly more difficult for us to buy the physical thing. We're really rushing backwards in terms of art preservation, even as digital channels become flooded with AI crap. One of the many ways we hasten our own extinction
So Crunchyroll has acquired the Funimation library and is shutting down the app. Digital copies you purchased on Funimation? Gone. Wasted money.

People ask why I collect physical media. This is why. You can literally BUY A THING and a bunch of well-compensated assholes can be like “actually no”

(We also have some visuals for npcs, items, places and maps...and use roll20 and d&dbeyond which helps)
