The post shows what you would expect. I do not think recommendations 2 and 3 follow. Of course one should say effects are implausible large - for the study design. Studies report either d_s or d_z. For d_z large values are possible, for d_s not.

Given that 97% of reported effect sizes are Cohen's d for between designs, my reading of this blog is: effect size d_s can be implausible large, and has some use in comparing effects sizes. d_z is used but rarely useful beyond direct replications. The other metrics are rarely used (for good reason).
Think subject count (N) and Cohen's d are good heuristics for the strength and reliability of an effect? Think again.

Recommendation 1 is of course good. And given the type of effect size, you can compare them against other effects or expectations, which is sometimes useful (as far as standardised effects go, of course), at least for d_s (which is the most commonly reported, expect in your area of perception).
