Another common tale is that the daggermaw guard water sources in the desert, with size indicating the purity of the water. This is mostly true! A daggermaw does prefer to take root and hunt in and around water sources. The only exception is if there is a spawning enclave of the Architect nearby.

A typical daggermaw is a pseudo-apex predator. Their range is often limited because they tend to linger near areas with underground water or near the areas they were first seeded. It can sustain itself for extended periods on sunlight and water, if need be. But it does like to hunt.

There are also tales that the daggermaw was meant to be a weapon against the Chorus of Yul-Nagat. This is wrong, but understandable. The Architect of Flesh despises Yul-Nagat, and spent a great deal of time and effort creating abominations to torment and attack the Chorus.

Pretty solid day for collecting Battle Pets I shifted my time between Darkshore and Darkmoon Faire. Got 2 mounts from Darkshore a ton of battle pets. Got the Darkmoon Eye in a bag of pet supplies and fished up the Sea Pony while fishing for Darkmoon Daggermaw. #WorldofWarcraft
