The Woman King was such a great movie
Dahomey is a terrific doc by Mati Diop about 26 royal treasures stolen/looted from the Kingdom of Dahomey in 1892, and their return from Paris to Benin. Diop has very quickly become one of my favorite filmmakers - I highly recommend checking out her debut feature Atlantics, which is on Netflix
This list is full of bangers but just wanna highlight Dahomey, think it flew under the radar but it's truly unique

Dahomey is a terrific doc by Mati Diop about 26 royal treasures stolen/looted from the Kingdom of Dahomey in 1892, and their return from Paris to Benin. Diop has very quickly become one of my favorite filmmakers - I highly recommend checking out her debut feature Atlantics, which is on Netflix
