If we are going to cram #affordable housing on arterials and in mixed zones then why do these streets have the #brightest and most #streetlights. This is a public health issue, and an income #equality issue. We need #darkskyfriendly lighting now. @SEACityLight @UrbanistOrg

What is the best way to raise awareness about #lightpollution in Seattle? We have a reputation for being rainy and being covered with clouds...say, “darkskyfriendly” and people get mad -or think your MAD! Yet #seattle has some of the least particle-polluted skies for stargazing.

Tonight’s #darkskyfriendly light is a old 1960’s HPS amber light in a Seattle Park. It is completely shielded. Notice on the other side of the park you can see the more “white” LED streetlights. #amberisthenewgreen #lightpollution

Last night’s #darkskyfriendly lighting is on a Seattle Fire Station. We have yellow circles showing the lights that are shielded, pointed down, and only light what is needed. Regretfully, the Fire Station’s beautiful neon art work is letting off tons of blue light. @IDADarkSky
