I had to try out the Widerøe Dash8-100 in X-Plane on the landing at Sandane in Norway, perched on a promontory overlooking a fjord. But the takeoff from Molde was pretty spectacular too!

There's a future roadmap of Dash8 products out of a new manufacturing facility near Calgary, so there will be low operating cost turboprops to fly out of Bishop in the future.

@lukeacl.com Just came back QN from LDI D8-200. On Dash8 landing from cruise descent rpm goes up markedly, is that just adjusting throttle to higher Rpm? Then there’s a sudden thrust forward on short final, is that adjusting to full fine?

BTW Dehavilland makes the dash8, which was the Q400 when bombardier owned it. They kinda got forced out of the business in tramp1 with the 300% tariff on the 3 series (airbus 220 now...).

I'm not going crazy! Air Canada did retire the Dash8-300 in 2022, which is smaller than their current fleet of Dash8-400. Flights are now 1 hour and 4 minutes, whereas the 300 took 1 hour and 55 minutes.
