Some data breaches include novel information about us, are the result of particularly noteworthy security flaws, or are just so massive they’re impossible to ignore. Here’s EFF’s list of some of the most egregious data breaches of 2024.

The amount of data breaches makes me think that at this point it's intentional.

You don't hear about banks losing money because someone hacked them.

If companies actually protected data they would have more robust systems.

Makes me think data breaches are how they funnel data out.

Banning TikTok but not Temu which is almost certainly experiencing data breaches that include credit card info is why this bill is unserious.
the thing that makes the TikTok ban so absurd is that China doesn't need it to get everyone's data

that data is fucking everywhere, and being sold to everyone, and there's not much any of us can do about it

if they want it they can get it regardless of what we do with TikTok

DOGE likely perpetrated the most serious, far-reaching data breaches in human history, and we will be dealing with the consequences for years.

Many DOGErs should have been, and still could be, prosecuted for these crimes.

As data breaches go, this is pretty sizable, significant, and also bafflingly bad in terms of time it took to discover and that the stolen data was unencrypted. News of this breach comes weeks after a huge theft of FBI agents' personal data.
