I personally think the James Mangold #DawnoftheJedi is the riskiest project #StarWars will tackle but I love his mindset as a creator, "You can't please everyone". Hopefully with this film so far in the past, he can truly make an original film.

If this is true, then I think it's a indcator that Lucasfilm did have a plan/slate of films when they announced the 2023 line up. But, the Hollywood Writers Strike really did shake things up massively thus leaving us with the slate we have today.

RUMOR: #Rey's #NewJediOrder film was meant to film in 2023 but was stopped due to the Hollywood Writers Strike. Casting and script were more or less completed.
