Twosday twins.

Fragrant dusty rose dayilies on a hot summer day in our garden. I split some of the bigger clusters and planted most in our backyard garden. I also added a bunch of other plants to create a dense garden bed.

I can't help showing a pic of a clump of Omomuki dayliles so my gardening friends can see how floriferous they are. Each about 5" across.

🌱 Full sun on these makes the colors hotter than they are to the eye.

🤔 I'm not positive about the species of this one, but the most common invasive lilies in my area (orange daylilies sometimes called ditch lilies) are actually edible by humans, though proper care must be taken.

Dayliles are often my favorite flowers. I save them from ditches and abandoned farmhouse yards. Haven't been shot at yet. Ballgowns made like dayliles is a lovely sentiment. Sure would be nicer than a lot of creations? on the red carpet! Thanks for the lovely photos...

🌱📷🌼Dayliles (Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus) come in a wide variety of colors and even shapes. But I'll stick with the regular daylilies in this area. They gift me with blooms all summer long.

Gonna pick this up again. Daylilies, common in corporate landscaping and suburban HOA neighborhoods, are fully edible even to the roots in winter. Pay less for your food #foraging #wildfood #resist

Btw daylilies are not true lilies and while they are toxic for animals, every part is edible for humans!

So pretty, Peg! Can you recommend some "Dayliles for Dummies" in the pink, burgundy, or purple color family?

Today's Gardening Advice: Remember, very few perennials provide all summer flowers. Certain dayliles (the D'oro series and others), Nepeta (with a haircut to promote more flowers), and Centurea (with pruning) are possible options. Annuals provide best chance for all summer color. 🌱

Complete tangent: just learned that dayliles were assigned to a different Family in 2009 and they aren’t poisonous like lilies are. But some common names like tiger lily are used for both a lily☠️ and a daylily👍🏻.

Apparently the flower buds are good fried and meh raw, and the roots are good tubers.

OK,🤐 Dayliles are very beautiful! That hosta is a stunner! You would have loved the garden I visited a few weeks ago. She started out with just daylilies and then expanded to hostas. I could have spent all day listening to her. Took cash so I wouldn't buy more than 2!

This year, I’ll have pretty dayliles. Maybe. I bought a bunch on clearance last fall…so maybe next year. ☺️ Thank you for the reminder that it will not always be a frozen tundra.

These were my old house.
