It’s #DeafAwarenessWeek! I'm proud to be the first MP to ask a question in BSL & support the BSL Bill, now law. It ensures deaf people are heard in policy & practice. I’ll always use my role to push for a fair and inclusive society and I think everyone should learn a little BSL!

Exam boards don't want to offer a GCSE in British Sign Language.

💫 So the charity Signature have offered to do it. They've never provided GCSEs before, so credit to them. 👏

🚨 Great news: GCSE in British Sign Language is coming.

Courses were due to start in Sept 2025 but sadly the Department for Education says that it has been delayed.

Is it coming to a school near you soon? Maybe. Maybe not.

DAY 1412 #MyChallenge to the Govt @DCMS @Lisanandy @TNLUK

As #DeafAwarenessWeek approaches I wanted to remind you that deaf people haven’t just landed on the planet. They have always existed but just been treated so wrongly by those who should know better.

If you champion 1 you CAN champion ALL
