For anyone who suddenly claims concern about the national debt -- and claims Trump and Musk are doing something about it:

The president who added the single biggest amount to the national debt ever in US history, $8.8 TRILLION?

Donald Trump.

In Trump's first term, he was directly responsible for 25% OF ALL US DEBT acquired – going back to the beginning of the country. In the last 9.5 months, he's added another $4 Trillion to the national debt.

Scream this at every Republican who claims they're the party of fiscal responsibility.

Trump claims to care about lowering prices, yet his tariffs will do the opposite.

Trump claims to care about the debt, yet pushes tax breaks for the rich at every turn.

The common thread? Enriching and empowering himself and his rich friends.

The Republican Bill for Donald Trump's tax scam will leave nearly 11 million people without health care. It is projected to add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years and contradicts claims by the White House and Republican leaders that the bill won't worsen the national debt.

anyway this guy claims to hate identity politics because it's grievance rather than materially based, and then everything he says is entirely grievance based except he gets to pretend it isn't by making occasional gestures to student debt being bad.

Setting aside the hypocrisy over claims of fiscal conservatism & the threat to national security, as future debt service payments will make it very hard to cover debt, pay for national defense, & meet services obligations like providing Social Security and Medicaid, this is a billionaire’s budget.

Asked about the $4-5 TRILLION hole they’re blowing in the debt to get their tax cuts for the rich as they cut health care for the poor, Hassett again claims growth will make up for it. (They claim this every time)

Burry has been an ai booster this whole time (extremely pro Anthropic and repeats their marketing claims), has been incredibly light on circular financing, and hasn’t touched SaaS debt (which I covered weeks ago)

Congrats again, everyone, for not only normalizing the unprecedented criminality of DOGE, but also for taking Trump’s & Musk’s & the entire far right authoritarian party’s claims that it was about reducing the debt & saving money. Truly, well done.

On CNN Edwards claims a newborn American starts life with $106k debt, claiming the need for austerity instead of taxing rich folks. Successive Republican admins have cut taxes for the wealthy, expecting the next Democratic admin to take the heat by cutting program spending to deal with growing debt.

Just FYI Trump Claims The Debt Is Biden’s Responsibility- I Guess He Forgot He Increased The National Debt By $8.4 Trillion During His First Term- And He Will Increase It Again With His Huge Planned Tax Cuts As He Destroys The Ability Of The Fed Gov’t To Deliver Services To Americans

Once again, no one should ever take seriously the GOP claims of caring about debt & deficits, or Real Folkz & workers, ever again:

BREAKING: House Republicans just passed their budget resolution 217-215 that would virtually guarantee deep cuts to Medicaid and food stamps, all to fund a major tax break for the ultrawealthy... and still add trillions to the national debt.

New Cato study, using 30 years of federal, state, and local budget data, finds immigrants have reduced U.S. deficits by $14.5 trillion since 1994. It directly contradicts years of claims by nativists in Congress and the administration that immigrants are “behind the growth in debt.”

TODAY: Biden announces major action on student debt relief.

What's in the news?

Trump's shifting abortion stance, Trump suing his judge, Trump's fundraising claims.

TOMORROW: Look for another story about how voters don't feel like Biden's done anything.

See how this works?

On the @pbsnews.org Erica York an economist at the Tax Foundation debunked Trump's claims that tariff revenue will be enough to pay down the national debt. Trump's tax cuts were too large. The tariffs don't generate enough income.
