So depressing that the government simply cannot recognise that immigrants have been this country’s lifeblood for decades and decades. Broadly the country supplies the infrastructure and immigrants bring the initiative.
Migrants who come here legally to work make a large economic and fiscal contribution, in the short, medium and long term.

The Home Office proposals are designed to make their lives harder/more difficult/deter them from coming at all.

This is just dire. Means decades of uncertainty for people, with every election creating a risk they'll be sent to unsafe countries by a far right government.
Home Secretary confirming refugees who go through the asylum system will start at a 20 year route to settlement - but with 10 more years if they arrived irregularly. So many, many refugees will face a 30 year wait for settlement, all while facing reviews every 2.5 years.

Congress should be the principal setter of science research priorities. Not the president. As it was for decades before 2025.

You can’t run a national science research enterprise, a project with payoffs decades in the future, if priorities slew around every 4 or 8 years.
(Vote!)
Evolution and ecology weren't named in the White House's FY28 science priorities. Should we be worried?

From the Ocarina of Time - Ask the Developer interview

Look at this flex. Being able to just go and ask the original developers from three decades ago is easily Nintendo's greatest strength

The beginning of almost three decades of political PTSD. Because they always fucking cheat.

A real generational divide tonight between those of us who were sentient in 2000 and those who weren't as we watch these Florida returns. lol

Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa -- monumental. Absolutely deserved. SO so so many people worked their asses off for decades for this -- and so many doubted her.

What a win.

We’re decades into the CGI age, and practical effects are still the god standard for stuff that moves you.
The chatbots haven't gotten worse at impersonating humans, we've just gotten better at spotting the difference between a human and a bot, just as we got better at hearing the difference between a phonograph and a pianist.

Haley Stevens is a bad person who screwed us all over, and also watching this interview gave me the most intense secondhand embarrassment I have experienced in decades
HALEY STEVENS: Anderson, this is a broader point about what's going on in our party

COOPER: It's actually not. It's really just a question of why you changed your mind

STEVENS I haven't cast my vote yet

COOPER: So you might change your mind again?

It is time for Americans to seriously consider the possibility (not a certainty yet, but a possibility) that we are watching a major event in American history

Like something that will be talked about many, many decades from now
