One thing I find interesting is that despite seemingly the ENTIRE INDUSTRY trying to kill VR and make it seem as uncool as possible... VRChat has grown almost every month for almost eight years now and is among the top 25 most played things on Steam.

Despite this case being in an airport, Vermont has open carry or "constitutional carry". No one is coming to save you. Communities band together, arms, funds, decentalized leaders, backbone. Get it done.

it's still fine in a decentalized context though. I believe the appview still indexes replies/likes etc. against records it doesn't (yet) know exists

Another reminder that BlueSky while technically decentalized "under the hood", everything is still mostly managed by a single US company.
Until there's locally hosted PDS:es, firehoses AND AppViews in multiple countries that adhere to local laws, it's still for all practical purposes centralized.

What opposition leaders? That's part of the problem. We have no one. We have politicians but they aren't leading. We have local leadership but they are distant from each other. That's why there isn't a widespread movement. The opposition is decentalized.

Like, I spent a lot of time on fediverse, and I couldn't parse the docs for atproto so I figured it was doing a similar thing. But that would mean spinning up your own zone, not just a doorway to...... wait, so is it decentalized or not?

There are some Subways that do have a separate pizza franchise inside them called "Mama DeLuca's Pizza", and it appears to be rather decentalized. A search brings up several different websites for specific towns or regions. In my state, there are (or were) franchises in Ipswich, Winner, and Mission.
