A sneak peak at Super Mario 64 as Gaeilge. It's all playable from start to end. All in Gaeilge. No fucking AI was used in this translation. All work, sprite re-edits, research are done by a very dyslexic man. Along with feedback from a incredible human. The decomp rom doesn't have any vibe-coding.

seeing an old game you like get a recomp or decomp made by people proudly declaring they didn't use AI is a huge breath of fresh air these days

I no longer look at the words "port" or "decomp" with excitement, I literally expect nothing anymore. Slop is slop and it forever shall be, the water is now so muddy it may as well just be mud.

since the cat's out of the bag, TTYD has been fully vibe-decompiled by 3 separate people, and one of them has made a vibe-coded PC port
I still plan to work on a "clean" repo using them as a cheat sheet and do the decomp (and PC port) properly, but that will obviously take a while so bear with me 🙇♀️

FYI, this is built off the Melee "decomp" so it is derived from AI-generated vibe code, if that is something that you want to try to avoid.

AI infecting emulation and retro PC ports have accelerated my plans to get a MiSTER. Getting one of these devices didn't seem so necessary to me while I still felt emulation was largely acceptable and I was excited about decomp/recomp projects, but alas.
