#decompiling
Anthrophic has begun restricting its AI tool Claude from recreating, decompiling, or reverse-engineering existing video games.

This comes as a result of copied and emulated IP infringing AI-made games flooding online.

decompilers when i rip their organs out one by one (i am decompiling them)

Can all these game dev youtubers make videos on how to possibly counter decompiling instead of showing us how easy it is to do it for clicks? Lol

Decompiling supports research, not bypassing software subscriptions or licenses.

Incidentally, said child also cannot determine whether said adult is actually using those scissors correctly or safely, as they lack the means to make such an assessment.

Just saying that in the context of 'reverse-engineering', 'decompiling', etc. some people are making some rather amazing claims.

Once the bubble pops hardware should come down in price. But streaming software will likely be a 'solution' to decompiling and cloning.

LLMs have gotten really good at decompiling source code*

Likely AI slop decompiling for the AI addled crowd

Also writing weights is cool but a different kind of thing than undesrtanding trained ones or editing them wich is harder.
It's like writing code in some weird programing language vs decompiling it.

He also specifically was mad about people vibecoding decompiling Fortnite and porting it to other platforms I believe. Because of course, you can only steal from others but not from him

Something to do with the ABC earnings eating itself or the rampant decompiling of proprietary software?

Decompiling reminds me of my stupid amateur early Java developer days

I will still fight for you (while I don't care about the decompiling thing, even if that's purely dumb cause they still have no fucking clue what they did)

insurgent uses of AI for decompiling, coding, and interop are great, but they will fail to be a counterpower in a world whether it’s already illegal to decompile proprietary code, and one that’s likely going to become even more strict once lobbying and the law catches up.

I saw that. I also saw some of these companies all of a sudden are saying that you cannot use AI to steal from them. These groups are creating software by decompiling software.

They are using their weapons against them.

I always thought it was sadly hilarious that tech bros decided it was time to finally regulate AI when people started decompiling their software.
October 30, 2026 at 11:16 PM
I'm actually free. 🥲 Maybe these decompiling lunatics will take that one apart as well. 👀

yeah buddy we're decompiling and recompiling you. enjoy 4k textures you were never meant to display

The decompiling stuff showed that LLMs can understand binary, so it makes sense they can understand model weights.
lmao. "We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math. It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training."
Sparks of Weight-Space Programming: LLMs can natively read & write neural network weights
We find that frontier LLMs are surprisingly good at natively reading and writing neural network weights, well past what we’d expect from humans or conventional algorithms.

The evil destroys itself.

Incidentally this is how I feel about the recent surge in decompiling and reverse engineering.
I still hate AI but if it kills crypto I won't hate it quite as much

decided to put my GPUs where my mouth is

64 hours ago, I started decompiling Just Cause 2 using a bespoke harness, three xx90-class GPUs, two computers, and (now) 22 parallel sessions of Qwen 3.8 27B with 45K context each

I now have 6% of functions (note: <1% bytecode) decompiled w/ byte-matching

(most of these came from Haiku decompiling binary files of C apps, then recompiling them and checking byte-consistency: muninn.austegard.com/blog/decompi...)
Decompiling C with 2,489 Haiku agents
A swarm of Claude Haiku 5.5 agents rewrote 796 of 1,070 functions of an obscure C codebase so that gcc -O2 compiles them back to the same bytes. Size and loops set the ceiling, effort past high bought...
