Your observation is completely in line with the results of the world's largest democracy survey (page 33 ff).
The dedemocratization in the US is the fastest ever measured but was "saved" by the fact that no elections were held 2025.
Next year's report will be exciting.

Given that the dedemocratization in the US is the fastest ever measured in any country and that it is happening without major popular protests, I would say that my triangulation is somewhat pointed but slightly better than 🇷🇺MOD

Maybe, but imo Trump winning 2020 would create too strong a "geez we're never gonna beat this guy" impression and let him be as aggressive then as he is now about dedemocratization
