Going back to LTRY to look for something this morning and found gems I wasn't looking for in particular but that resonated deeply with something I'm wrestling with. Thank you @mskellymhayes.bsky.social and @prisonculture.bsky.social

As someone who taught First Aid for 15 years, and was an Ambulance Techician many many years ago, this is one of my biggest TV bugbears, and don't get me started on defibrillation on TV!

That, and why are the coffee cups always so obviously empty, put some water in it at least for balance!
No film and no TV series has ever depicted the chest compressions of CPR accurately. You need to push hard, people. Hard enough that you might break some ribs. Not like you're pumping up an airbed. And certainly not with bent elbows.

💡Optogenetic defibrillation depends on ion selectivity. 🩺Cation/anion ChRs cause unsafe Ca2+ overload. ⚡Simulations reveal K+-selective WiChR protects cells near rest, bridging biophysics & safer anti-arrhythmic design.

I went to a #RestartAHeartDay event today in the Town Centre. Really useful to see what I could remember from years of annual training, what had changed and what was new such as using defibrillation kit.

Did You Know? Cardiac arrest survival drop 7-10% per min without defibrillation. By min 10 without CPR & AED: near 0. In offshore/remote workplace, the people present are the #survival team. CPR quality & AED access change outcome.

BANG!!!, instant defibrillation
Possible conclusions
1. Calf is a tough bugger and ignores the zap
2. New polyurethane boots MAY be insulators

In any case, run an extra line with it's own power unit at calf nose height
