Gestational exposure to the neurotoxic insecticide deltamethrin (DLT) is suspected to increase susceptibility to neurological disorders, but its impact on secondary brain injuries and therapeutic interventions remains poorly understood. This study investigates whether prenatal DLT exposure exacerbates post-traumatic epileptogenesis in offspring and evaluates whether it compromises the neuroprotective efficacy of curcumin. Pregnant rats were exposed to DLT during gestation, and post-traumatic epileptiform activity was subsequently induced in the offspring using a focal FeCl₃ cortical injury model. Following oral curcumin administration, subjects were evaluated utilizing electrocorticography, behavioral assays, Golgi staining, and immunohistochemistry. We found that gestational DLT exposure significantly exacerbated injury pathology, evidenced by heightened neuronal hyperexcitability, severe social behavioral deficits, reduced dendritic complexity, profound loss of synaptic markers

The laboratory AQUON recently identified errors in water quality reports for 2024 and 2025. These errors involved incorrect readings for specific crop protection products, such as cypermethrin and deltamethrin. Because of technical contamination in new laboratory equipment, some test results showed positive values when they should have been recorded as below the limit. This led to an incorrect report in February 2025 about alleged pollution near the De Kooi pumping station in Bergschenhoek. The water authority has corrected its data and clarified that there was no leak from greenhouse horticulture in that specific case. Measures have been taken to ensure better accuracy moving forward.

The Rijnland Water Authority has issued a formal correction regarding their water quality report published earlier this year. It was discovered that some measurement results for the years 2024 and 2025 were incorrect. Specifically, three toxic substances—cypermethrin, deltamethrin, and (es)fenvalerate—were reported as exceeding safety limits, but subsequent investigation confirmed these chemicals were not actually found in the water. These errors originated from the research laboratory AQUON, which performs water measurements for the authority. A small percentage of the total measurements were faulty, leading to inaccurate data in the agricultural monitoring network. Rijnland has confirmed that these reporting errors did not lead to any incorrect enforcement actions against local companies. The official charts and data sets have now been updated to reflect accurate information. Despite this correction, Rijnland emphasizes that protecting surface water remains a priority. The authority continues to monitor pesticide levels to reach environmental goals by 2027 and encourages farmers to seek advice on sustainable practices.
