Marginally. I was a huge Demongo fan back then, and I loved how easy he was to draw. They aren't related, though. I just saw these simple chars on Artfight and I wanted my own. I mean, sure, all black, flame hair, demon, WHATEVER, why would I change peak design?

I think this is the very first time I’ve EVER made a proper reference for a character, let alone one of my own.
I’m really proud of these!

Me neurologically projecting my Demongo hyperfixation onto you so you’ll be inclined to give him proper turnarounds (I myself am too lazy & unmotivated to do it myself) /j /j /j

All that being said,
Damien was an exception due to the right circumstances & him just being one of a kind.
It’s gonna take a miracle for Demongo to become attached to anyone else.
Despite this, as of where M&M is right now, there’s ONE little nightmare that’s close to becoming another exception.

I’m not too happy with how I actually portrayed it, but Dems’ attachment to Damien happened because it was the EXACT right circumstances.
Demongo was powerless, without a safety net, knowing everyone else was starting to see him as pathetic due to his powerlessness & empty threats.

As for that certain someone, he’s also a bit of a loner but not for the same reason.
Unlike Damien, Demongo doesn’t seek out people to help. He could care less. Damien was the main exception due to a few factors, particularly HIM being the one to approach Demongo FIRST.

Demongo is NOT used to being vulnerable & only (currently) feels comfortable letting his guard down around Damien.
He’s cautious & verbally hostile around literally everyone else, but with Damien
It’s such a foreign yet pleasant feeling, being around someone like that, like HIM.

I’m just someone who saw potential for something I thought would be baller & decided “you know what? Imma go for it”
It’s why I often include Demongo in these OC posts despite him TECHNICALLY not being an OC.

The only problem was me insisting I knew so much about the ORIGINAL take for Fusionfall Demongo when what I was really doing was filling in the gaps with my own ideas, & when I accepted that, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

But then kinda mistake that potential for what was actually intended?
Yeah.
That’s kinda what happened to me with Fusionfall’s Demongo.
Cause whether I like it or not, there’s not enough content of him in the game to make a COMPLETE, well-rounded judgment of his character.
Yeah.

Demongo is obviously different considering bro writes all his mystical findings in these various journals he makes himself.
They mainly consist of detailed drawings with various written notes accompanying them. He also sometimes just writes his own thoughts down in them.

So a while ago, I saw someone use this template by txtdarioc over on Twitter, & I wanted to try my hand at it with my oc x canon ship in Fusionfall: of Magic & Machines.
Demongo is pretty damn talented, considering he’s had centuries of practice.
Damien…
Not so much.

Despite the severe inconvenience, Damien would not be bothered in the slightest. He’d make the most of the situation.
Demongo is a lil more interesting in this case, especially if the conditions are JUST harsh & freezing enough to genuinely hurt him, or worse.

This is why any section in of Magic & Machines that focus on Demongo or Lucy will have harsher & more pessimistic descriptors of the setting & characters than sections that focus on Damien or Cheese.
