#dendrologists
Hello fellow #newengland #naturelovers, #treelovers, #bostonists, and #dendrologists. Can you help me identify the oak tree growing on the back of my property? I think I’ve identified it, but I’m not confident. What do you think? I live in Massachusetts, but this might not be a native species.

Happy #kidlitartpostcard and #peachtober I really had a fun time figuring out what to do for the prompt Oak. Through research I found out about Dendrologists they are scientists who study and classify trees.

Sure, meteorologists, glaciologists, oceanographers, agrostologists, pedologists, soil classifiers, dendrologists, etc. who spent decades collating & summarizing the scientific data are wrong, but a guy who bankrupted 6 casinos, is a failed leader & has 0 scientific credentials knows better. Sure. 🙄

Hey TREE people, dendrologists, arborists, botanists...
What exactly is the top of this young maple doing? I accidentally ripped off the top last year while clearing out clematis. Is it internalizing this injury in a weird way, or is this just normal growth? I've never seen this before. ✌️

Maybe paleontology so they can do practice digs with their little paintbrushes? Or maybe somebody who would have no idea what to do with it like send it to some dendrologists and see what they come up with.

For all you budding dendrologists I will be leading a class on identifying local trees using Banana Fana Fofana nomenclature.

Same. That’s funny. Does it require a priori knowledge? Sure. But it’s solid. Just need more like dendrologists or botanists. :)

I miss this so very much. Still, I will be back again next year. Wild Meadow Brook in Danbury NH. Autumn into Winter 2023. Clear water, still air, the lower leaves have all fallen leaving the top canopy to turn and fall. A dendrologists delight 🍂

Glad to see the Wood Elves coming back the Old World! I was always a huge fan of the faction even though I never collected them.

who cohort of vulcanologists geologists water systems technology guys wildlife biologists and botanists and dendrologists and even physicists and everybody just got to make their whole career studying this and its effects. what a gift

#Ornithologists are as interesting a breed as the 🐥 🐦 they name..

🤣 "a Little bee-eater" 🤣

And then the #Dendrologists get, "Often called sausage tree, it grows a fruit that is up to 60 centimetres (24 in) long, weighs about 5-10 kilograms (11-22 lb)"🤣

My knee-jerk reaction is Deadwood and Severance, which when phrased that way sounds like a show about dendrologists

Any budding dendrologists or even actual ones out there can identify the nearby tree of ours?. It's the size and shape of the adjacent regular oak but the leaves are much more slender. See piccy of both. #trees

Do you eat salads and veggies? According to some botanists, horticulturists, and dendrologists, trees, plants, and veggies have feelings and communicate with each other. Do you have wood furniture? Do you eat salads and vegetables? do you acquire/eat them without their consent?

Calling the dendrologists (please tag): I'm assuming that despite the fact this neighborhood aspen looked healthy last fall, it is not long for this world? Does anyone have a guess on this mushroom species? 🍄📷🌱

The Great Olympic lie: untold story of Games' huge environmental impact
On the foothills of the mountains, by the banks of the river in Cortina, there was a forest. It was full of tall larch trees. Arborists said the oldest of them had been there for 150 years and dendrologists that it was unique because it was unusual to find a monocultural forest growing at such a low altitude in the southern Alps. The locals knew mostly it was the place where the old wooden bobsleigh run was, where you went on your walks in summer or autumn, or when you wanted to play tennis on the small courts built near the bottom. They called it the Bosco di Ronco and it isn’t there any more. Sustainability is the great lie of these Games. It was written all through the bid document and the International Olympic Committee has slapped it across all manner of promotional literature. “For the IOC, for sport in general, sustainability is a priority,” said the executive director of the Olympic Games, Christophe Dubi. If you want more details, the IOC can give you any amount of information about its low carbon transport plan and how it is only using recyclable cutlery and linen tablecloths. It will tell...

Trees hold secrets to past weather and climate. These photos show how.
By boring into trees to pull out a small core, dendrologists are able to reconstruct Earth's history since the tree began to grow.
