can’t think of a single public transit project like this: one of Seoul’s first tram lines was laid from the entrance of Deoksu Palace, where King Gojong lived, to Hongneung, the tomb of his Queen who was slain by Japanese ronin, as a symbolic act of resistance and a personal act of grief for Gojong

The treats were almost too cute to devour—but devour them we did (they were divine). The café has a gorgeous aesthetic, a perfect match for the neighbourhood, as it’s between Deoksu and Gyeongbok palaces.

Seoul (known as Gyeongseong, then Keijo under Japanese rule) has a fascinating rail history not discussed enough imo. It used have a very dense tram network, and its origins are fascinating. The first tram line route would later serve as the first subway tunnel route for Seoul Metro Line 1.

Ooh that scene from Little Things end of chapter 1 where Jimin comes home from a failed date with Deoksu and JK helps him take off his necklace and they hug and have that convo about how it's okay if Jimin needs a hug and he shouldn't hesitate to ask and Jimin is all 🥺 because he doesn't expect it
