Once a person passes a certain point of radicalization, deradicalization has a low chance of success.
The focus has to shift from changing beliefs to interdicting their ability to organize, recruit, fundraise.
Just making it expensive, painful, laborious, and dangerous for them to hurt people. /12

but people do like to back winners and feel like momentum is behind whatever they're doing. build a movement that can reach and inspire the young men who don't suck and some one ones who do will derad themselves

I'm working on preventing school shootings here in brazil and our focus is preventing kids of being radicalizing through education. Deradicalization, as you've said, is really hard, so it's always better to work on prevention.

it isn't that people do not mobilize - often, they do! historically, indigenous sovereignty, black liberation movements, & internationalist youths. the problem more so is that every other segment quickly tries to abandon or contain them. one of the most amorphous deradicalization systems in history
