They're...going to deregulate tobacco now?

What year is it

Also: they really are neo-Confederates, huh
"Don't play games with me" -- Sen. Kaine isn't buying it when Overton repeatedly refuses to directly answer questions about whether she's aware of discussions within the administration about rolling back tobacco safety regulations (she clearly is but doesn't want to admit it)

DEREGULATE IMMIGRATION

DEREGULATE GENDER

DEREGULATE UNIONS
honestly i have come to loathe the "deregulation" framing. it's just intellectually bankrupt. as if liberalism meant liking "regulation" no matter what the regulation is. this is insane on its face and besides not even true: many liberals want to "deregulate" immigration, to take just one example!

the GOP is currently trying to deregulate asbestos
It is kind of surreal that the GOP has absorbed all of the “big businesses trying to profit off poisoning your kids rhetoric!” while also strongly supporting every business whose model is “we have to poison the kids.”

Donald Trump launched a cryptocurrency sh*tcoin 3 days before his inauguration knowing he's going to deregulate crypto.

Staggering levels of blatant corruption.

The BBC bringing on the pundits saying that Starmer’s failure was due to him not doing enough to deregulate big business and cut welfare and we should now call a general election is my cue to turn the TV back off.

When a politician says: we’ll deregulate health insurance and send you a “freedom account” check, ask: freedom to buy what? If insurers don’t offer real policies or can cherry-pick only healthy people, that money is a coupon for a store that’s not open.

your regular reminder that Reform published a draft bill in May last year which promised to deregulate the crypto industry and cut stamp duty on transactions from 24% to 10%
Reform’s financial reliance on the crypto industry is wild

We are going to have to deregulate immigration.
as democrats, if we want to get immigration numbers back up to a reasonable level, we're going to have to do more than just go back to "the way things were." we're going to have to provide a real, reliable, fast pathway to CITIZENSHIP.
The central failure of US immigration policy over my entire adult life is that it has always put xenophobia over facts. This is the result. And if we were talking about facts, this one would be setting off all our alarms. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/27/u...

The same Mitch McConnell who stole two Supreme Court seats so he could overturn Roe v Wade, deregulate companies by gutting the power of administrative agencies, and obliterate the Voting Rights Act
Dead or alive, Mitch McConnell is on extended medical leave — on your dime.

This is the same Mitch McConnell who voted against: paid family and medical leave for everyone else.

Elizabeth Warren: "You know what banking system Scott Bessent wants? The one we had right up until 1933 -- just deregulate the banks, and they crash. The alternative is to say we need better regulation over the private credit market."

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Farage promising to deregulate crypto and create a national crypto reserve. Those are just the policies the people of Makerfield want.
Reform has raised more than £9m in the first quarter - £3m from Thailand-based crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, delivered just before the government capped foreign donations, and £4m from crypto entrepreneur Ben Delo.

It is going to be extremely weird to see how he plans to simultaneously ban gummy candy and deregulate everything
Trump's podcast strategy was good for lots of reasons, among them is that podcasters don't ask "but how will you pay for that?"

July 23, 2025: The White House rolls out a plan to deregulate AI companies.

Also, July 23, 2025: Trump buys up to $5 million apiece in stock of Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon & Broadcom.

Coincidence?

Congress must BAN stock trading by the President, VP, and lawmakers.

1) Corporations and the super-rich spend billions on elections
2) Elected officials rewrite laws in the donors' favor, enact huge tax cuts, and deregulate industries
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

If we want to talk about "integrity" and our political system, let's talk about this.

Trump is trying to deregulate crypto as his personal businesses get more involved in the industry.

He also just gutted the DOJ team that investigates crypto fraud.

This may be one of most overt conflicts of interest in presidential history and it's hardly a blip on the news.
