To myself: "Was Cortinarius croceus one of the dermocybes with a gill colour that makes it easier to single out than others?"

I've been fortunate enough to see a wide spectrum of Cortinarius section dermocybe this week.
Members of this group are generally a golden colour with very vibrantly coloured gills from a concolorous colour to deep oranges and reds.

A handful of Cinnamon webcaps (Cortinarius cinnamomeus), commonly used to dye fabrics, these are part of section Dermocybe which produces vibrant red and yellow pigments, highly sought after by natural dyers #fungi #mushrooms #mycology

Literally the most boring picture of a mushroom to have applied those emoji to, let me fix this

Cortinarius subg Dermocybe have deliciously red-orange gills that can sometimes appear GOLD under blacklight 🍄📸

Recently I found something I considered Dermocybe malicoria but it might have been Dermocybe cinnamomea. I got a rich collection so I decided to play with chemicals (I found something about KOH but it seems the reaction in both species is similar). I found it had wine red reaction to ammonia on cap.

For years I've tried several ways to save and show my natural dyed yarn samples, but I felt I hadn't found a right one - until now. I've just started stiching them onto a thick art paper - something to do while watching the evening news. This is #dermocybe #cortinarius #bloodredwebcap

I plan on actually attempting to ID the ones from section dermocybe, but the rest are going straight in the box to send for sequencing.
I like to ID things when I can so questionable DNA results get questioned easier, but in some cases like webcaps there is only so much I can do.
