Reading the tales of Mawson before I went to Antarctica is how I learned the term "moist desquamation". No matter how much of a British gentleman you are, don't eat a diet of seal pate. Just don't.
everyone even mildly into polar exploration knows how badly vitamin A can fuck you up, and seeing the Health Secretary of the US recommend megadoses to measles patients made me so mad i wrote about it. im so angry at this malthusian ghoul buttondown.com/theswordandt...

It's not like we're talking moist desquamation or deliquescence here. Just a little cavitation effect in your eye.

Personally, I find it very fun to talk to the 2nd graders and teach them things. It is possible parents wish I taught them how to swear rather than the words they did learn from me. Like moist desquamation.

Oh, I know it. "Moist desquamation" and "evulsion injury" are much worse.

I'm sure sudden cessation of steroids comes with no troublesome effects at all...

Now let me take a big mouthful of water and Google "desquamation of the skin"

The lens proteins called "crystallines" are formed as an embryo and don't get "turned over" or recycled like every other protein in your body.

That means they contain the exact ratio of isotopes of carbon that reflect the environment in which you were born.

Radiocarbon Dating of the Human Eye Lens Crystallines Reveal Proteins without Carbon Turnover throughout Life
BackgroundLens crystallines are special proteins in the eye lens. Because the epithelial basement membrane (lens capsule) completely encloses the lens, desquamation of aging cells is impossible, and d...

"Meat aerosols" has now replaced "desquamation" as my least favourite science visual.

Study based on mice model (healthy individuals vs infected with SARS-CoV-2). "The SARS-CoV-2 group exhibited significant epithelial desquamation, extensive tissue damage, diminished mucin content, elevated apoptosis and pyroptosis, and reduced Galectin-3 expression."

Doing searches for words in your posts is dangerous. Will I ever learn?
Did a search for "moist desquamation". The results contained a lot of japanese incident involving radiation.
That in turn reminted me of the story of Hisashi Ouchi...

Cell extrusion is having a moment...
Histologists noted epithelial shedding, desquamation and exfoliation still in the 19th century. Over the last 20 yrs, work across many systems revealed extrusion as an active, tissue-scale process. Now, new tools, models & communities are bringing fresh questions

Spa grave, les mycoses, les pouèles, les infections à levure, la desquamation de la peau, les matières fécales, l'urine, tout ça disparaît par magie avec un peu de chlore. Tu peux te gargariser avec l'eau après. 🤣🤣🤣
