#dianhong
So I tried Dianhong with hibiscus leaves and now I can say that Dianhong is consistently my favorite tea. It’s not very expensive and has great flavor as well as it mixes well with other coffees and dehydrated products as well as berries.

Pumpkin pie latte is a closer description to what I make. I used Dianhong instead of chai and it’s very delicious. Also used chocolate milk.

1980s dianhong (Yunnan black tea) for my afternoon session today. I wouldn't believe it if this didn't come from a reputable seller. but it's very good - juicy as fuck 😍

I tried Winter Forest, one of the new teas I got from Jolie Tea Company, and I am not feeling it. I'm not dumping it in the compost, I'll try it again another time, but this morning I'm spending my caffeine allotment on dianhong and having more Yunnan golden needle.

beautiful loose leaf dianhong

I've noticed a lot of dianhong has a pretty intact processing, which is probably related, but I don't drink enough hong to really get familiar with these nuances...

I did a comparative tasting of some Qimens and I did notice a bit of punch on a more chopped one, but it didn't translate to tannin

The general consensus is that Yunnanese teas are often higher in tannin, due to the varietal, Assamica. However, teas like Dianhong are often processed more lightly than most western hongchas. You might be able to expand your range if you look for "coarse" teas? Huangpian, shoumei, etc

black tea lacks the same effect on me as a liubao, both mentally and physically. maybe i need to look into dianhong but so much is malty and uninteresting

or dianhong, or puerh, both of which pack quite a punch
May 16, 2025 at 5:56 PM
hmm

that makes sense, too. i thought this was about a dianhong order, ngl. some vendors just dont do it for some people
February 2, 2025 at 10:26 PM
thats probably why youre not a fan of w2t's hongs. dianhong has a unique processing, afaik, so it could be the aspects introduced by that setting it apart.
