i love "real robot" material (despite the modern "works" of the genre such as it is feeling hellbent on making its distinction immaterial instead of rescuing the material potential w/in it) but the diebuster/E7/orguss02 works that spin out specifically from those FSS/ideon keystone texts are my soul

like this has some of the worst pacing i've ever seen, it's like diebuster but instead of using 90% of its time on overly drawn out and flashy battle scenes, 50% is dedicated to that and 40% is dedicated to contemporary japanese pop culture references

current uc gundam tier. Will finish uc shows/ova then go release order. Ive been watching gundam since may with only new GitS, Eva, & lain being inbetween, I think its time for other shows. Im eyeing witch hunter robin, gun/diebuster, galaxy express, blue submarine, & some more.

Problem with modern mecha media is that or try said "mecha is a commercial" like Dandivine or a keychain slop "Dark Machine" or just have bad writing. Show which have Eva protagonist but have extra homage to classic Gainax (Gunbuster, Diebuster) + Toho kaiju movies is a Snowball Earth.

Both gun and diebuster share a central theming of "together we can do impossible things so keep living" but each show focuses on one part of that more than the other, diebuster focusing on the together part and gunbuster focusing on the keep living part if you get what im saying?
