A little animation experiment ^w^

Trying to keep the digitigrade legs consistent as they move across the leg motion was tricky

Here is the sergal! A digitigrade suit with a floor dragger tail that can be hooked up on the bodysuit to keep it off the ground. The eastern sergal headbase and parts are from @dvcreations.bsky.social

(Posting has been slow due to moving and I am getting back in the swing)

seeing 'plantigrade' and 'digitigrade' as a biology major in furry fandom is funny because it's like "hey i know that from vertebrate class!"

I've a strong bias for plantigrade but deeply respect digitigrade anyway 🫡

Digitigrade, obviously. But now the real question is: anisodactyl or zygodactyl?
November 2, 2026 at 10:14 PM
Nah they look great. Animating digitigrade legs must be tough.

According to Wikipedia, birds are digitigrade, but they look plantigrade. What we see as knees are actually ankles. Guess that means that when I drew them, I drew them as accurately digitigrade.

I have forgotten how digitigrade legs work

the logistics have gotta be annoying when you have digitigrade feet but he makes it work

I love monsters...those big scaly muscles...those tough stompy digitigrade legs...those long curly tails...feeling their warm breaths as they growl in your face...

Because okay, the main ones I see tend to boil down to leaning a little digitigrade and they result in the tummy being lifted off the ground, ooooor they end up having the legs/haunches be quite squishy and press down over the paws which I've seen a lot

More exploration; was thinking about bipedal vs digitigrade Chili-- I imagine he switches between the two freely.

Just remade this post to fix a small issue with the digitigrade posture!
November 1, 2026 at 1:05 AM
Exactly!! When I draw furries, I give them human hands but non human feet and I don’t give them digitigrade legs.
November 3, 2026 at 8:54 PM
Nah unguligrade got hooves. The legs of Birds (except for loons, gerbes and penguins) are digitigrade with their peets being flat when on a surface. (if not curled when on a cylinder surface)

Watched the Forgotten Island. That ruled.
Thank you btw to whomever it was in the studio who let the weredog character have proper digitigrade paws.
