Medicare for All means we will no longer be nickeled and dimed by corporations who exist specifically to hold our healthcare dollars and pay out as little as possible.

1. Good news: Hegseth aides dimed on more of his comically reckless, seemingly illegal behavior

2. Bad news: They dimed cuz, well, they were fired

3. Which raises the obvious Q: what tf other insanity is going on in there where someone just hasn’t been fired yet to rediscover their conscience 😑

People want health care, food, housing, and good jobs.

They also want their flights to take off and land safely — and to not be nickel and dimed by airlines.

Priorities.
The FAA will now let commercial drones fly beyond the operator’s line of sight.

The move will "unleash American drone dominance," Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.

As a result, Duffy said, " You may get a Starbucks cup of coffee from a drone."

People want to have their basic needs met.

They want to be paid a living wage.

They want to stop being nickle and dimed by powerful corporations who control so much of our lives.

They do not want Venezuela.

They do not want Greenland.

They do not want masked thugs terrorizing our communities.

And it’s not like this is new information. “Nickle and Dimed” is over 20 years old.

Everyday Americans get nickel and dimed while the rich dodge taxes.

They struggle to get by while the wealth of the 1% skyrockets.

They see their voices drowned out while the well-connected avoid accountability.

There are two sets of rules in America: One for the rich. Another for everyone else.

Getting nickel & dimed in a world where a nickel means like 15 bucks.

OK, but there's something quintessentially American about being dimed out at a McDonald's.

Regular Americans get nickel and dimed while the rich get tax cuts.

They struggle while the wealth of the 1% skyrockets.

Their voices are drowned out while the well-connected avoid accountability.

Is it any wonder why so many think the system is broken? This is why we must fix the system.

The youngest dimed me out to her mom for letting her ride in the front seat *one time*.

It’s the back seat in my car for you until you turn 16 young lady.

Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich

Illinois consumers have been nickel-and-dimed out of thousands of dollars per year by unnecessary and deceptive junk fees.

I am proud that the Illinois General Assembly has passed legislation to put money back in the pockets of families and establish fair, honest pricing.

The hidden cost of being poor is something Barbara Ehrenreich highlights in NICKEL AND DIMED—which is still worth reading, 25 years after it was published. Poverty is *expensive*.
Apparently there’s grocery inflation discourse again, but as I’ve been buying groceries for other families during this crisis, often under duress, it’s brought me out of my own optimized grocery spending habits, which rely heavily on Costco. And damn, there is a huge price to pay for being poor.

Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich is pretty amazing because 25 years ago it convincingly laid out the fact that lowering housing costs is key to keeping people out of poverty and everyone kinda ignored that takeaway
You might think The Art Thief by Michael Finkel is a Thomas Crown Affair-type romp but it ends up becoming a huge bummer (sorry @briancgrubb.bsky.social)
The Skies Belong To Us by Brendan Koerner is an enjoyable read and I want to know what happened to Cathy Kerkow. Also remarkable that airlines were just able to make people put up with skyjacking for a decade because they were cheap and could bully Congress.

Sims 3 was the most pirated life sim of all time because they nickel and dimed individual pieces of furniture but at least the gameplay was good.

Do you know this man? I do. He has 160+ million followers on TikTok. He’s apolitical; he does Vaudevillian silent comedy making fun of stupid life hacks. Far-right MAGA influencer Bo Loudon is bragging that he dimed out Khaby Lame and got him detained by ICE.

And he did. TikTok is going to go nuts.

Nickel and Dimed did something that's hard to do... it killed a branch of my optimism

i hate paying taxes AND getting nickel and dimed at every fucking opportunity, because these assholes simply will not ever tax elites at the level they deserve
