#Dinovember Day 30: Deinocheirus!

Fun fact: This large theropod dinosaur was thought to be a vegetarian because of its duck bill and lack of teeth. Like a duck, it may have specialized in cropping and eating water plants.

That's a wrap for #Dinovember2025 !

#Dinovember Day 29: Ambopteryx!

Fun fact:  This scansoriopterygid evolved flight more like a bat than a bird, using skin membrane stretched between its hands and body to glide. Wild, right?! I know it looks like a dragon, but it was a real dinosaur!

#Dinovember Day 28: Falcarius!

Fun fact: This lithe therizinosaur was discovered about 25 years ago in two massive bone beds that have produced thousands of fossil specimens of the species, including juveniles.

#Dinovember Day 27: Minmi!

Fun fact: This small Aussie ankylosaur has often been confused with the very similar Kunbarrasaurus and considered possibly invalid. In 2021 it was argued that it was distinct enough to be its own taxon.

Minmi also wants to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

#Dinovember Day 26: Diplodocus

Fun fact: Famous for its long neck and tail, some paleontologists think it could use its tail as a whip.

So close to being caught up! Phew! What a month this has been. Should have today's dino posted this afternoon!

Dinovember Day 23: Einiosaurus!

Fun fact: This Montana dinosaur sports a down-turned nose horn and is related to many famously hornless ceratopsians--the pachyrhinosaurs.

#Dinovember Day 22: Ichthyovenator!

Fun fact: This spinosaurid dinosaur has an unusual neural spine shape that looks like a divot on its back. Paleontologists think this could possibly be used for display or personal identification between individuals.

#Dinovember Day 21: Khaan!

Fun fact: This little Oviraptor from Mongolia gets its name from a Mongol word that means ruler or lord. It is also very fun to yell.

#Dinovember Day 20: Scelidosaurus!

Fun fact: In the year 2000, a nearly complete fossilized skeleton of this UK dinosaur was discovered, making it one of the best known non-avian dinosaurs in Paleontology.

#Dinovember Day 19: Plateosaurus!

Fun fact: This bipedal dinosaur is a very early "sauropodomorph." It likely used its strong arms and long claws to grasp plants during feeding as well as use in self defense.

Day 18: Medusaceratops!

Fun fact: Named for the drooping "snakelike" spikes on its frill, there is some debate around whether Medusaceratops might be synonymous with Lokiceratops.

("I can turn this thing on a dime!" ~Medusaceratops, probably)

Day 17: Daemonosaurus!

Fun fact: This small and rather unusual dinosaur is known for having very large, fang-like teeth at the front of its jaws. Its name means "demon reptile."

Day 14: Stegouros!

Fun fact: This recently discovered Chilean dinosaur has a unique large frond-like tail weapon that has been compared to an Aztec mace weapon called a Macuahuitl.

Day 13: #Dilophosaurus!

Fun fact: Unlike its representation in Jurassic Park, this dramatically crested dinosaur was as much as 23 feet long and would have towered over a human. The frill and poison spitting from the movie was all Hollywood speculation.

Day 12: Dryosaurus!

Fun fact: This smaller (some might say pet-sized) bipedal iguanadont had a horned beak and cheek teeth--implying it had fleshy cheeks to chew food like many modern herbivores.

Day 11: Pachyrhinosaurus!

Fun fact: There is debate among paleontologists whether pachyrhinosaurus had a horn or a "keratin boss" on its brow ridge. Most depictions favor the latter.

#Dinovember2025 Day 9: Coelophysis!

Fun fact: This Triassic theropod was thought of as a cannibal for many years when the fossilized stomach contents of an adult were believed to belong to a juvenile of the same species. It was later determined to be an unrelated reptile.

#Dinovember2025 Day 8: Kentrosaurus!

Fun fact: Despite being a relatively small stegosaur, Kentrosaurus is thought to have been able to whip it's tail in a 180 degree arc, giving its tail spikes lethal speed and force.

#Dinovember Day 7: Megaraptor!

Fun fact: This medium sized theropod is known for having much longer and stronger arms than many other meat eating dinosaurs. Despite the name, it is not actually closely related to other "raptors" (aka dromaeosaurs).

Day 6: Gallimimus

Fun fact: Despite a name that means "chicken mimic," this herbivorous dinosaur (which you may remember from Jurassic Park) was often depicted without feathers until more recently.
