Everyone I knew called it the dirtyclothes. I was born & raised in the east & midwest by parents from the south & midwest. I eventually became the laundress for our 4 person fam. Hanging clothes outside in good weather, using my energy instead of the dryer. 🙄

We called it the “dirtyclothes” in my family too. I wonder if there are any commonalities in families who do this. My parents are both PNW-born in the 40s. Could just be a thing people call it naturally but I’m always curious about language use

But since I had my own room, the protocol was to check with me before she washed clothes, or at least look in my dirtyclothes. Especially since we both knew that the centrifugal force of Earth’s gravitational pull would disintegrate if we washed TWO LOADS of clothes in one day!
