#disavowal
this isn't "media pile-on" or "journalism disavowal" this is specifically "the New York Times sucks ass"

“I can’t overstate how much I yearn for a massive MAGA defeat and a full-throated disavowal of the man and the party that has led this decade-long assault.”

this lady opposes talarico because she claims she has a cis student athlete daughter who got accused of being a man over her short hair and it was very unpleasant to go through and this is trans people's fault

good job team talarico your disavowal is really landing with The Voters

Saying "I'm not affiliated with the ad" is not a disavowal.

Saying "The ad is shameful and relies on dangerous antisemitic tropes" is a disavowal.

Only one of these two statements actually happened.

We’ve already seen early numbers that suggest Crockett’s efforts in places like Tarrant for people like Alisa Simmons for example, have helped. Dingell helped get Stevens & Clyburn for an event & Stevens cornered AES into a better disavowal of hatred. If he steps up he might not lag like he’s been.

Home Office March 2026 sort-of-disavowal of the £10 billion saving claim
bsky.app/profile/sund...
The Home Office told me 3 weeks ago, this is not a claim the reforms save this £10 billion [in 3 decades, not 3-5 years] but govt won't tell MPs & peers if there is a fiscal saving (or cost) & how much it is & when

In the reviewer's defense, I did not offer a full-throated disavowal of a fictional terrorist group/blood cult which absolutely is fictional, not real, and all kindsa made up.

Sigh.

If so many people weren't in permanent disavowal, they would be able to internalize that Eisenkot basically created the Dahiya doctrine.

I really like this idea. Regulations on AI. Rights for immigrants in detention. Funds for building *truly* affordable housing. Medicare for all (though I think Medicaid is the better model for truly "free at point of purchase" healthcare). A disavowal of Israel's genocide. Subsidies for renewable

I’ve written an essay on Alenka Zupančič’s brilliant book Disavowal, charting some of its many implications for the contemporary political moment:

Thank you. I saw that AES' disavowal of the antisemitic ad was weak-ass bullshit. I didn't see that he had personally attacked Stevens, along with asking her not to appear with him today.
November 1, 2026 at 6:31 PM
Stevens' statement was bad and unnecessary, but did El-Sayed truly disavow the ad beyond saying he wasn't responsible for it?

If the ad with Amy Acton's mother had come from outside (as was initially thought) and Vivek just said "not us," no one would call that a disavowal

“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald

Seen today: A political statement attached to the disavowal of a political statement.

And that is why Stevens’ BS tweet demanding the disavowal, was a final straw for the El Sayed campaign imo.
November 2, 2026 at 3:18 PM
There is zero chance the Steven’s statement was made in a vacuum and without attempts to reach out to the AES campaign.

That Cenk ad was horrid and regardless of what the AES campaign thought it was doing with its disavowal, it did not effectively distance it from what Cenk did.

I know i'm already spending too much time thinking about this but is it the Obama endorsement that threw her off the deep end ? She seemed to be of the mind of trying to ratfuck AES (and probably pick up the ruins after) so having Obama descending from Olympus for him would be a strong disavowal ?
November 1, 2026 at 6:31 PM
I'm responding to the words you typed:

"I’m going to make a bunch of ads that are indistinguishable from you."

Despite his tepid disavowal, the ad is very similar to things El Sayed has actually said. Not good!

The start of November landing on my HRT day (when I get all frisky and pent up) feels like a perfect coincidence with my disavowal of the whole "no nut november" bullshit as the Nazi fuckery it is.
November 1, 2026 at 6:13 PM
Some folks need to watch Contrapoints's video on Twilight and learn what disavowal is. I say this as someone who was extremely close to becoming a content purity crusader ten years ago and is still working through that shit
October 30, 2026 at 11:43 PM
As everyone perfectly well knows, the minute AES disavows, in whatever form that might take, the next stage kicks in: his disavowal wasn't good enough. It was missing some crucial terms or assurances. A new challenge is issued from all corners: "Why won't AES disavow according to the new criteria?"
October 31, 2026 at 7:17 PM
That's a start. a SM post. Now he needs to hold a press conference, broadcast on radio stations, news, the home page of CNN [dot] com, etc.
I spoke with my older, very-politically-engaged relatives this afternoon. They had heard about the Stevens nonsense on radio, but not Chuck's disavowal.
November 1, 2026 at 7:55 PM
I think the AES disavowal was first but only only said he wasn’t connected to the PAC and only AES speaks for AES.

Stevens then thanked him for that but wanted him to go further and disavow the message itself, pointing out it was similar to some primary rhetoric.

Then AES attacked Stevens.

He did it because in his culture it makes sense. Family honor: you must protect your family at all costs. The mother going against the daughter is a life-threatening disavowal. To Ramaswarmy and his Brahmin-caste campaign team it seemed perfect.
In the context of third world family honor culture, the ad makes perfect sense.
