This is a good comparison of the four most popular diskdrives for the Atari computers. I only had the 1050 drive. The Indus and the Rana are the most feature packed.

@hypervisible.blacksky.app Seriously. I was a precision mechanical inspector at a seagate prototype motor/hardware shop; was working with 'engineers' who had no idea how diskdrives worked. Careers built on 'bearing and shaft' design, etc. Double letter blueprints later, old guy OGs came to fix it...

The base IBM PC came with 16KB RAM and no diskdrives. It included BASIC in its ROM to act as a primitive operating system.
