Has overwintered well and now with the ambient light increase (along with unchanging levels of artificial uv) it is marching into spring. Particularly pleased with the Bogbean comeback! People keep asking if I keep animals on it - no. Only accidental woodlouse, water slater and gammerid shrimp which came in on plant plugs but breeding happily. #distractionproject #wildlifeathome".

When collected from the wild, it's quite common to find one or two caterpillars have been attacked by patasitoids. This Red Admiral larva is nearing the end of its life, with Chalcid wasp larvae now emerging from its body to spin their protective silk before they all pupate. The unfortunate caterpillar then dies slowly. @natureismetal #distractionproject #wildlifeathome".

Final pic is Small White pupa on left, Large White on the right. These Large Whites will now overwinter as pupa, emerging next spring #distractionproject #wildlifeathome".

This is my simple set up, on this occasion my lighting was better but unfortunately got the angle and therfore focus slightly wrong on the following time lapse. The pupa of these is very cool! Also got to share this experience with @rinaquinlan and @rekatako, forming a bit of a caterpillar fan club 😁 #distractionproject #wildlifeathome".
