DkS2’s nonsensical nature is both awesome and actually thematically consistent and I far prefer it over DkS3’s fanservice.

yeah genuinely, i didn't even get invaded once in my entire ER run. when the game was 'new' i never saw any of my former Fight Club guys from the DkS2/DkS3 days hop on either.

i love that Fromsoft continually used trees and roots in their visual language for anything chaotic or untamed, starting from Demon's Souls with the Old One and evolving with Manus before peaking in DkS3/Bloodborne

DkS3 has a lot of haunting and evocative imagery - Irithyll, the 'angel' pilgrims, the blackened Firelink Shrine, the state of the world after you get all of the lords on their thrones - and it makes me sad that a lot of its connective tissue was destroyed
