I started making game art on Commodore64 and Amstrad CPC464 (with my dktronics light pen) then graduated to Deluxe Paint on the Amiga.
By the time I got to study games I was already a bitmap wizard.

And here's, IIRC, their only clam case game, the TV licence for Minder, also by Don Priestley, from 1985. By the time dbl jewel cases were in use #DKTronics had gone forever.

Dktronics isn't pretty but is mechanical and great to type on. The Saga is pretty, the labels are stickers and it's a membrane. They don't age well.

Had a 464 which I upgraded to a 6128 over the course of 5 years: 64k Ram pak from DKTronics/floppy drive/6128 ROM. Fortunately it was an early 464 with a socketed ROM.

DKTronics: that takes me back! I bought their light-pen. I then spent a few weeks rewriting their terrible Z80 code to make it work! Did you finally get one of those keyboards? I'm sure it must have been an improvement on the original "dead flesh" keyboard.

We got ourselves one of these back in the day. IIRC it cost as much as the ZX81. It did nothing to improve typing speed as we still had to constantly check what input mode (keyword, etc.) we were in and what the shortcuts on each key were.

Today's #retrogaming on the #ZXSpectrum #2003 a #SpaceOddity from #DKTronics. It's a sort of graphic text adventure. Takes a little getting used to; it has combat and treasure to find. But it does take a little while to draw each screen, so it's quite a slow game
