Just Advantage/disadvantage is arguably too flat; we saw that with the DNDOne playtest where they tried to make everything Adv/Dis, and..but what does the second support get to do? But it fits well into bounded accuracy and makes the first support you get really impactful.

Mostly the streams of people going through the recent DnD 5.5e stuff and DnDONE even tho they clear don't like it, but they are too scared to try new systems and see the numbers dip and then the cycle repeats.
Rather than not giving it the time of day if they don't like it and moving on.

Ever single step of DnDOne character creation has been a headache. So many weird and bizarre changes. Every time I think I've cleared all the stupid shit, another problem rears its ugly head.

This is quite interesting - I wonder if it is:

I've been tracking these data a while myself, and though my numbers are a little different they show broadly the same trend:
- 2023: 58 out of 119 projects (~49%) that raised $100,000+ were 5E
- 2024: 41 out of 147 projects (~28%) that raised $100,000+ were 5E

Out of the most successful ($100,000+ raised) crowdfunded TTRPG projects in 2023; 43 of 105 of those projects were Fifth Edition. In 2024, this has shrunk nearly 50% to 22 of 106. Wild times we're in, folks.

Personally as a DM, my approach would be to stick to 5e and ask the DnDOne player to try adapting but I’d be open to any DNDOne rulings that they want to migrate to our campaign. New TTRPGs are always an option when the setting fits. And no I don’t think TTRPGs are ever going anywhere

Hope you enjoy 2E JoCat, been playing it since DNDOne was announced and I've heavily prefered it. Simplier than PF1E but with more versatility than DND5E

I think it depends on where you’re looking. I mostly see it when I’m browsing the general ttrpg feed, and there are plenty people excited for it. But almost no one is referring to it as dndone.
