What the heck is #newwest being turned into? I specifically chose to live in New West because of its diversity, walkability and size. I love living here but it’s not lost on me that the more visibly African/Black the city becomes, the more we hear these racist dog whistles and it’s disgusting.
To be clear, he suggested that basketball courts attract the wrong "demographic" to our parks, and that pickleball would attract people *who look more like him*. And asked us to consider *who we want to attract* to our parks and public spaces.

Honestly, once you get even a cursory knowledge of how anti-trans dogwistles get repackaged by truscum to be levied against nonbinary people, it becomes incredibly obvious that the "oh, she's just talking about cis acedemics!" defense is largely bunk.

For real though if there is anything I'll go against the grain on it's good and normal things being "dogwistles" because a baddie used it. You can't just concede half your language because people in the anglosphere you don't like use English words.

Even five years ago this was the language of the fringe. Trump was already awful but for the most part the White House still spoke in code and not like 4chan posters and neo-Nazis on X. The development from dogwistles to open white supremacy may only make the quiet part loud but it's still very bad
