The three countries leading global de-dollarisation.

This isn't coincidence.

Challenge the petrodollar. Get regime changed.

Every. Single. Time.

That message might accelerate de-dollarisation, not stop it. Because now every country in the Global South knows what happens if you threaten dollar hegemony.

And they're realising the only protection is to move FASTER.

The timing is insane too: 18/

They were petitioning to join BRICS.

They were building direct payment channels with China that bypass SWIFT entirely.

They were sitting on enough oil to fund de-dollarisation for decades.

Why does this matter? Because the entire US financial system is built on one thing, the petrodollar 4/

- Use regulations eg resilience standards to prompt European investors to rebalance away from US
- Ban Trump-friendly US crypto exchanges from Europe
- Pursue de-dollarisation by incentivising euro-denominated transactions by firms and expand ECB swap lines

China is Venezuela's biggest oil customer. They're losing billions. BRICS nations are watching a country get invaded for trading outside the dollar.

Every nation considering de-dollarisation just got the message:

Challenge the dollar and we will bomb you.

But here's the problem... 17/

This is the erosion of the petrodollar. This is the catalyst for de-dollarisation, as more countries see that energy trade can function entirely outside the U.S. orbit. The U.S. has increasingly targeted Hengli Petrochemical and others to cut off Iran’s financial lifelines

King Charles’s state visit to US will be ‘humiliation’ amid Iran war.

Cancel the visit.

It is part of appeasement of a crazed felon who doesn't respect international law.

Must work with the EU. Abandon dollarisation of trade, which gives US a cut from every trade. Trade in local currencies.

Missed it this morning, but a great thread on de-dollarisation:
There's a dollar "vibe shift" happening now that is different from past bouts of dollar pessimism. You might be skeptical. That's understandable since the de-dollarization narrative has been around for years now, and little has changed about the dollar's global position. 1/

When it comes to global de-dollarisation or any lasting loss of US military credibility the problem is that you tend to get a debate dominated by focus on technical economic or military analysis when the deciding factor will be the stability of the American political system

De-dollarisation is not a threat to global stability. Countries are simply questioning the rules of a game long rigged in Washington’s favour

In stable economies dollarisation is unnecessary and brings costs. The best way for America to make its currency attractive would be to run good economic policy at home
America should not push other countries to adopt the dollar
More dollarisation would be a double-edged sword

I agree here, the short term moves in USD are cyclical. The de-dollarisation happens gradually and is a long-term factor.

There's two ways the de-dollarisation will happen:

(1/2)
The Dollar is falling. Every time it falls, some see an end to its reserve currency status. If that were the case now, the Dollar would be falling on a broad basis, but it isn't. It's falling against the G10 (black), but not against EM (blue). This Dollar fall is just a cyclical G10 re-rating...
