Postgres and MySQL evaluate UPDATE expressions differently.
Doltgres inherited MySQL’s behavior from its shared SQL engine. A user caught the mismatch, so we added an override that preserves the correct behavior for both databases.

We are exploring if native Postgres extensions will just work with Doltgres or if we have to build them. Doltgres is designed to be a drop in replacement for Postgres but has no Postgres code.

Postgres can run multiple statements in a single transaction, even without an explicit BEGIN.
The boundary depends on the Simple Query or Extended Query protocol.

Our Postgres-compatible, version-controlled SQL database got 1.8x faster on sysbench, moving from 4.4x to 2.6x slower than Postgres.
That puts Doltgres roughly at MySQL-level performance on this benchmark suite.
