Could have some heavy hitters like Storm, Hank Pym, Vision, Douglock, and other characters whose powers are practical and useful in these situations, or could simply be a team of Z-tier characters.
It's mostly about the concept, and could fit almost any character into it

Daily X read. 2013 England is a hell hole. Excalibur lives in the Braddock caves and go on a mission to rescue Douglock. Turns out he's been disected and strung out like webs and is now the heart of what they are fighting. This issue was a memory in nightmare form for Brian.

I remember this, was an enjoyable run that I wish had lasted longer. And it tried to make more sense of the whole Douglock thing! Also liked that it was written by Louise Simonson who wrote the New Mutants!

Overall, Phalanx Covenant was eh. I really dig the concept, and I'm excited to see where stuff like Douglock goes, but overall it felt very *fine*. I'm excited to start Generation X, tho! First, I'm gonna take a moment to catch up on some backlog.

It took a while for them to be alive at the same time. Even then, they weren't big names that fit into crossovers anymore.

oh - i did read generation x a bit but probably wasn't around the time of that - when i refer to douglock it's the fall of the mutants thing :). My 'reading' was mid to late 80s - and then a coulple years after droping out of grad school (late 90s)...like i read onslaught and heroe's reborn

During this big event, a random Technarch who looks like Doug... Douglock, shows up and ends up joining the Excalibur team because Kitty is convinced it has to be Doug brought back from the dead and fused to Warlock somehow. They eventually go with Technarch channeling Doug and Lock

From my weak ass childhood memory the douglock situation was 'new mutants' only - maybe there was a crossover big event but i don't recall it - it seems to me they're focusing on mutant wide events and the death of douglock wasn't art of one of those?

I think the odds of Douglock from Phalanx Covenant are really high if they get enough time, actually. It's not Doug and Warlock goofing together... but the Phalanx Covenant is definitely in the window of stuff they are mining for adaptation and we may get a little Doug and Lock to setup Douglock

But It's still very unlikely i'm ever going to see douglock (and no that warlock like appearance in the original x-men was not something i felt satisfied with)
