A lo mejor estoy obsesionada, pero no paro de pensar que Sarah J. Maas ha jugado a, al menos, Dragon Age Inquisition:

Frase de Corypheus: "You toy with forces beyond your ken [no more]"

División de soldados que se llaman "dreadwolves"

Dios del sol: Solas

Todo esto en los libros de Crescent City
You play with forces beyond your ken

#SFFChat I write dark fantasy! I strive to give heavier topics a more empathetic approach. My characters in my queer dark fantasy series get put through a lot, but even in the dark moments, there's always room to hope.
This excerpt here is giving an example of the series' overall tone.
cw violence
«Ulfgír, guide my hand.» Auðunar had his sword at the ready. He stood over me in a defensive stance, following the beasts’ motions. «Stay still, Sunderish fool. I’ll handle them.» “W-what do I do?” My hands were shaking. The dreadwolves’ terrible sneers were following my every move, my every breath. I was helpless. This was far more frightening than being chased through the grove by a shambling dead fox. “Auðunar, what do I do?” “Just stay still and stop snivelling,” he snapped. I grew more aware of the sword on the ground, like it was laughing at me. I had a weapon, yet I could not use it. I could not even be bothered to gather the courage to pick it up. I was facing certain doom, but I was forced to rely on someone else to save me. Someone else had to protect me. I was too helpless, too pathetic to do anything to save myself. The dreadwolves growled, and one of them sprang forward with such dizzying speed. Even so, Auðunar met it just as fiercely with his blade. He struck at its flank, throwing off its pounce as it shrieked. When the other tried to attack from behind, he was ready for it with a quick jab backwards. They both pivoted in his direction, the latter launching forward with its opened maw. Auðunar’s reflexes were swift, even with his stature. He dodged and wove away, slashing at them both again. At another lunge, Auðunar dropped, sliding underneath the dreadwolf while it sprung and driving his blade into its chest. After it struck true, the momentum caused him to carve deep into it all the way down to its belly. It collapsed in a heap, with Auðunar showered in its blood and entrails. He relished in it, standing upright and keeping his shoulders back. «You picked the wrong man to fuck with,» he seethed, his breathing hard.

#SFFChat a snippet from my queer dark fantasy series!
Tobias is wholly out of his depth as their group travels north through the wilderness. The man he's referring to is their guide, Jorund.
The wildlife here was not something to handwave away. He spoke of dreadwolves, giant beasts that seemed to possess enough self-awareness to know that they were pursuing you. To be near a pack of them alone was certain death. Wild cats lurked in the forests closer to the mountains. They were known to stalk their prey if they even caught just a whiff of your scent near their litters. And there was a motto that he taught all of us. *“Never be in the same clearing as a mother bear. If she sees you, you are already dead.”* I couldn’t help but think about how frightened Lucian must’ve been travelling through this same wilderness. Hopefully Finn kept him safe throughout the journey. I’d hate to think that he faced such dangers. The bitter cold was also difficult to adjust to. The further north we travelled, the more that I noticed that the daylight seemed to appear less and less. The Northman called it “polar night,” and it was darker in such places like Berusær, even more so towards the Tundra region.

From Passion, Survival, and Revenge
Prince Lucian and Auðunar get ambushed by two dreadwolves (lore: massive wolves that'll track you down like a polar bear).
While Lucian has a crisis, Auðunar does what he does best.

So when 10th edition came out I thought I'd make my own successor chapter, The Dreadwolves. Then I inherited a bunch of Space wolves so I decided to repaint them. The Ballistus got the Fenrisian glow up.
